The brief for this new farmhouse included many different roles and needed a large floor area, so the design broke these down into a cluster of three discreet elements. The main block contains the living spaces and family bedrooms: a simple rectangle in plan facing north, with a scissor-truss roof to provide high ceilings for natural ventilation, supported on heavy timber posts that allows the verandah to step in-and-out. To one side on the south is the master bedroom suite, a squat tower-like element which is a focus along the approach. To the other is a garage block with additional bedrooms and office in the attic, clad in weatherboards to resemble a traditional farm outbuilding. Between them is a shaded entry courtyard.
